This book shows a new generation of wilderness travelers how to adopt Native American snowshoeing and sledding techniques, which make it possible for trekkers to carry heavy weights-wood stoves, wall tents, and real food-with far less effort than with the ultralight backpacking equipment more often associated with winter camping. It explains how these indigenous people traveled through their northern forests in winter and how today's wilderness traveler can do the same.
